Joan Vasko, MS LPC

Hello and thank you for taking the time to research your choice of clinician at North Coast Family Foundation.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio. My counseling is supervised by Natalie Varrone, LPCC-S.

I received a Master of Science degree from Divine Mercy University (DMU), located in Sterling, Virginia. The Clinical Mental Health program at DMU integrates the psychological, philosophical and theological understanding of the human person. In simple terms, it enables the therapist to recognize and appreciate the client’s experience through the widest lens. My calling to the counseling profession came later in life and am thankful for this new direction which is both challenging and gratifying.

I work with individuals, families, and couples and prefer to use a variety of techniques based on the comfort and needs of the client. I am inclined to use a strength-based approach, informed by the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model to help people gain more self-insight and identify the barriers around adapting to and/or overcoming their circumstances. I am trained in EMDR and Flash Technique which are helpful for reprocessing past and current events as well as for addressing future fears.

I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren, and also with the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration (I am Catholic), making family dinners, country line dancing, and practicing Tai Kwon Do. My prayer is that the Lord will permit me to be an instrument of His Healing for my clients.
