Heather James

My name is Heather James. I am a graduate of Grace College with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and work under the supervision of Natalie Varrone, LPCC-S.

My heart is to meet you where you are in your pain and walk beside you on your journey towards restoration. I believe that everyone has great value, and my desire is to treat your story with humble empathy and non-judgmental truth no matter what you may be struggling with. I want to provide a safe environment in which you can feel free to open up at a comfortable pace. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps you to identify how faulty beliefs, (or lies we believe), impact your daily life and functioning. Prior to grad school, I worked in Biblical counseling for ten years overseas, and I am passionate about helping people to grow closer to God and connect more deeply to Him in the midst of life’s trials. I have most experience working with domestic violence, pregnancy crisis, depression, anxiety, grief, interpersonal and past wounds, and faith related struggles, though I am open to working with a variety of issues.

I have been married for 10 years and have 2 kids. I love to spend quality time with family and friends, talking, playing board games, watching movies, or going out in nature. I also love to travel and get to know new cultures. I spent most of my life on the mission field in Latin America and speak Spanish.
