Vetrice Kotek, Nurse Practitioner

I am a certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in the state of OH. I received my MSN MBA from Kent State University and my certificate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner from the University of Cincinnati. I also completed a psych mental health residency at the VA. I feel the experiences I have had along with my professional education prepare me to bring my nursing care gifts to NCFF. I also have experience in women’s health, pediatrics, and public health. As a nurse practitioner I am able to prescribe medications that may help in the healing/recovery process.

The expanded knowledge about the brain and the contribution chemical imbalances have in mental health outcomes are important to address. I believe we have a responsibility to judiciously use this knowledge to relieve suffering and augment healing. Many mental health conditions are chronic and just as one would treat physical illness with medications, there is often a place for medication to help with mental illness symptoms. Along with prescribing services I also do counseling, however more often I work alongside your therapist to support your healing and recovery.

I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren. My husband and I enjoy movies, socializing with friends, traveling and seeing family abroad. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy reading and lectures.

I count it a privilege to serve in a setting that incorporates the spiritual care, based upon the patient preference, along with the physical, biologic, mental aspects of mental health. I look forward to working with you to be the best you can be.
