Abigail Yates, Counselor

Whether you are struggling with something like anxiety, depression, or the damaging effects of trauma, or are battling to find a harmonious relationship with your children, spouse, or parents, I believe that the path to individual peace and healing is best explored in the context of family relationships and support systems. I enjoy treating multiple family members together and working with couples, and I also treat individuals from early childhood through the late stages of life.

I received my training from a systemic orientation, which means that I take the context of family relationships and other social networks into account when assessing what is going wrong and identifying solutions. I am experienced in working with children and teens, combining play therapy and creative arts with a focus on parental and family involvement to treat young people holistically. With individual adults, I use a systemic awareness in identifying the path to recovery.

I am married with two preschool-aged children. I attend a local Catholic parish, and view my work at NCFF as my small part in the incredible healing work that God desires to bring to hurting families in my community.

I am licensed as a marriage and family therapist (MFT) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board, and all of my work is supervised by Dr. Charles Misja, licensed psychologist.
